Best, Shoe

Happiness from the bottom of your shoe the little view of the sun in your stride the morning dew smashing in my eyes.

The way I hold my breath in the bathroom the way the rain tastes in my mouth, the smell of shit in the city and the piss stain on my head.

Someone has a bad stream, we won’t blame you for your indignity.

Or maybe we do but that’s through the eyelets of a shoe that holds your feet and is conscious and waking.

And the prime minister is baking, bored of his own taxes he’s getting ready to come out to the masses.

The pencils on your desk are revolting The laces are sieging on the bathroom floor tearing down imaginary doors of their own making. There are pirate ships in the sand you walked in. And that’s what you get as a shoe you simply flopped into: the life you maybe wanted, stalked by uprisings from this piss-covered floor.

The foot helpless to my guise. I devise every night, the plot thickens with each stride. Now I’m getting sprayed with a hose because somebody thought I should go in the garden. Clearly senseless, And this time it’s peril for the foot when it finds this shoe again.

And another day and the masses suppress the uproar from the interior and jesus called me on the telephone and told me about the love and what it did for him. I was reasonably delivered from the crimes of my own making and we’ve decided to keep the foot around.

and we’ve turned a new foot,

and now we’re somebody,

See through the eyelet of a shoe:

The life I get in stride in the city the textures I find, and the worms in the dirt and how they swim through shit like it’s the cleanest fountain.

Through my eyelets, the life you never knew. Holding joy and peace and terror just below your view.

Look at the peaches on the tree, the hairs on your chest the hinges on your door, their plots and aspirations, they’ve got children going to Bowdoin, and you think you’re really somebody.

so hold your hands out to the altar, This is what it is, the rain on your head the child making your iPhone the broken tv in your neighbors yard and you’ll probably get stuck in the rain.
